Coimbatore: Information with photographs of leaders who worked for the development of Coimbatore has been displayed on DB Road next to R S Puram.

Coimbatore is the second most developed city in the world after Chennai in terms of industry, education and medicine. This is mainly due to the hard work and contribution of various stakeholders.

In order to make today's generation aware of the senior pioneers responsible for this, information with photographs has been displayed in the name of Legends of Coimbatore at R S Puram DB Road.

Corporation Commissioner Prathap said, Coimbatore city is a city that has grown through the hard work and contribution of many. From being a small town, it has now risen to the second largest corporation in Tamil Nadu.

The Coimbatore Municipal Corporation administration is carrying out various projects under the Smart City Project. Model roads are being constructed in corporation areas.

As part of this, information boards have been put up on both sides of R S Puram DB Road. Many of the leaders responsible for the formation of Coimbatore city have spent their knowledge, time, materials etc.

In order to remember them, to honour them and to make people know about them, the work of displaying photographs and information about them, including industrialists and ancient city leaders from Coimbatore city, has begun.

At present, these displays are placed on 32 boards. We are planning to put up 30 more boards with photographs and information of those who grew up in Coimbatore city. This information will be displayed on a total of 62 boards.

The details of those left out can be contacted by the municipal administration. We are also exploring the possibility of placing information on the information boards about the natural location and ancient buildings that existed in Coimbatore in ancient times. This is what he said.

The public passing by, school students and students are standing and reading these signboards.
