Delhi: Tendulkar, who has been declared the national icon of the Election Commission of India, will reportedly spread voter awareness as part of a three-year contract.

The Election Commission has been appointing eminent personalities from various walks of life as national identity to encourage voters to participate in the election process.

Actor Pankaj Tripathi was recognised as the national identity by the Commission last year. Earlier, during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the likes of MS Dhoni, Aamir Khan and Mary Kom were the national icons of the Election Commission.

Sachin Tendulkar has been announced as the national icon of the Election Commission of India this year. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard will be signed between Tendulkar and the Election Commission on Wednesday. As part of the three-year contract, Tendulkar will reportedly spread voter awareness.
