Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women hosts three-day workshop on women empowerment


Avinashilingam University's Women Studies Centre and University SC/ST Cell is organising a three-day women empowerment workshop. This programme that was inaugurated today will empower SC and ST students by training them in computers, communication development and food making.



The event was presided by Dr. P.R.Krishnakumar Chancellor, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and S.Saravanan Deputy Commissioner of Police Traffic Coimbatore City was the chief guest.

Dr.P.R.Krishnakumar Chancellor in his presidential address said 

"Empowerment of Women is not just based on external factors like a well paid job . In reality empowerment should come from within and is based on self worth and confidence thus inner empowerment is the real empowerment. Empowerment should be backed by a good training and it will be provided in these three days workshop and students must utilize it to fullest. Always have a vision and start travelling based on the vision without getting influenced by anyone."

Chief Guest for the session S. Saravanan Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Coimbatore City shared that "Just like you students I too come from the same background as I studied in a government school, did not have much knowledge and was very shy and had lot of stage fear. Today, I am addressing you, so if I can come up to this stage definitely you girls can reach greater heights than this. We all are affected with a disease called inferiority complex which we have to get rid of. We should never forget out of million sperms we won the race to be born in the world. We are therefore born winners. Every person has a turning point in life so this workshop here should be a turning point in your life."

He further asked the students to maintain a good circle of friends who will keep encouraging them. “Manage time effectively and always choose a job which gives you satisfaction. There is no dearth of opportunity in today's world utilize the opportunities coming your way.” DCP Saravanan said.

He also announced that the Children’s Traffic Park is offering free two wheeler riding classes for girls and ask the students to make use of opportunity and learn driving from experts.
