On the occasion of Onam festival, the people of Kerala living in Udumalpet celebrating in their homes by putting kolam made of flowers, lighting lamps, preparing 21 kinds of dishes and serving them on leaves and offering prayers to King Mahabali.
Tirupur: The people of Kerala residing in Udumalpet celebrated on the occasion of Onam festival by decorating their homes with flowers.
Malayalees living in various areas including Ramasamy Nagar, Senthoor Garden, Green Park Layout in Udumalai Municipality area of Tirupur district celebrated Onam in a traditional way.
On this occasion, people painted flowers made of flowers in their homes, lit lamps, prepared 21 kinds of food and served on leaves and offered it to King Mahabali. They exchanged greetings with relatives and friends and celebrated with traditional games.
About this, Malayalis of Kerala said, “While Onam festival is celebrated for 10 days every year, we celebrate Onam on the last day in a grand manner. In addition, we are worshipping the mavali figure in front of the house with clay and applying athapoo kolam to welcome the King of Mavali.”
