A businessman who had mortgaged his jewellery for domestic work near Dharapuram and took Rs 8 lakh from a bank was robbed by unidentified miscreants.
Tirupur: A man who lost the money has told the police that a man who was following him took away rs 8 lakh cash kept in a car by mortgaging his jewellery and fled on a two-wheeler.
Pandian (40), a resident of Tulukanur near Dharapuram in Tirupur district, is a businessman. He runs a lorry transport company in Dharapuram.
He is constructing a new house in Therpatti area on Dharapuram Palani Road. In the afternoon, he mortgaged his gold jewellery to a private bank on Dharapuram Pollachi Road (Bank of Baroda) and took a loan of Rs 8 lakh as he needed money for construction work. After receiving the money from the bank, he put his car in the back tikki and went from Dharapuram to Therpatti on the Dharapuram-Palani road to inspect the construction work of his house.
He then parked the car near the newly constructed Therpatti house and went to inspect the construction work. When he came later and opened the car trunk to pick up the cash in the car, the money kept in the bag was missing. Shocked, Pandian lodged a complaint with the Alangiyam police.
Pandian said that some unidentified persons, who were following him, took away Rs 8 lakh cash kept in the car and an unidentified person ran at a high speed and got into the two-wheeler.
In a shocking incident, unidentified persons stole money from a person who had mortgaged jewellery for the construction of the house and was carrying out the construction work of the house.
