Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that a second SIDBI Bank has been launched in Coimbatore and a situation has arisen where customers No longer go behind banks for loans.
Coimbatore: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the 2nd branch of SIDBI Bank in Coimbatore.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was speaking at a grand loan disbursement ceremony held at Codissia Stadium in Coimbatore.

"We are making efforts to see if the loan reaches the beneficiaries for whom the subsidy is available through the banks. It was done in Puducherry, Rajasthan, Sikkim and Nagaland and the initiative was launched in August in Coimbatore.
Accordingly, retail loans worth Rs 1278 crore will be disbursed to 23,800 people at the ongoing festival. In addition, 2904 new Mudra loans are being issued. Similarly, stand-up India loans for 18 scheduled caste and tribal youth and women in rural areas are being given to 18 people worth nearly Rs 4 crore.
Loans to the tune of Rs 9.27 crore have also been disbursed to 7911 street vendors. Rs 1043 crore loan assistance is being provided to MSME. Loan assistance of Rs.30 crore is being provided to 2867 farmers. Similarly, loan assistance related to the agriculture sector is provided. Loan assistance of Rs 3749 crore is being disbursed to more than one lakh bank accountants due to the initiative undertaken since August.
Gone are the days when we used to go to banks in search of loans and now there is a situation where banks are looking for us. And there is only one bank (SIDBI) in our country that can provide loans to small and medium enterprises. A second SIDBI bank has been opened in Coimbatore."
