Coimbatore: The demise of DMDK founder Vijayakanth has brought a wave of condolences, with prominent figures including former Minister S.P. Velumani expressing sorrow. Vijayakanth, known for his commendable work in the Tamil Nadu film industry and as the leader of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), passed away today due to health complications. Leaders across various political spectrums, including the Prime Minister and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, as well as personalities from the film industry, have conveyed their condolences.

His body is currently placed at the DMDK office in Chennai, where the public continues to pay homage. In his condolence message, former Minister S.P. Velumani lamented the loss, stating it's a sad moment for the people of Tamil Nadu. He praised Vijayakanth’s journey from a commoner to a celebrated actor and leader of the actors' association, highlighting his numerous contributions to the society. Velumani also recognized Vijayakanth's role in politics, particularly his alliance with former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and his service as an opposition leader.

Velumani extended his deepest sympathies to Vijayakanth's family, party members, and those in the film industry, praying for strength and courage to cope with this great loss.
