Coimbatore Municipal Corporation conducts a major crackdown, seizing 188 kilos of banned plastic across the city, resulting in significant fines.
Coimbatore: In a massive enforcement drive led by the Commissioner Sivaguru Prabakaran, the Coimbatore Municipal Corporation today seized 188 kilos of plastic from 621 shops across the city. The operation spanned various zones including 56 shops in the East Zone, 131 in the West Zone, 94 in the North Zone, 110 in the South Zone, and 196 in the Central Zone.
The seizures were substantial in each zone: 46+ kilos in the East, 16+ in the West, 24+ in the North, 20+ in the South, and 63+ kilos in the Central Zone. Additionally, fines totaling Rs. 1,28,100 were imposed across all zones. This initiative highlights the municipal corporation's commitment to enforcing environmental regulations and reducing plastic pollution in Coimbatore.
