Address Staff Shortages at Pollachi Government Hospital - Pollachi Patients Welfare Association

The Patients Welfare Association in Pollachi emphasizes the urgent need for additional medical staff and modern facilities at the district government hospital.

Coimbatore: In a recent meeting held at the Pollachi District Collector's office, presided over by Collector K. Saranya, members of the Pollachi Patients Welfare Association underscored the dire shortage of doctors and nurses at the government hospital, which has been upgraded to a district head hospital for over a decade. Despite the upgrade and the availability of modern facilities like scans and X-rays, the hospital faces challenges in delivering treatments due to the lack of specialized doctors and night-shift laboratory technicians, causing distress among patients, especially during emergencies. Repeated appeals to the state health minister and chief minister have gone unanswered. The association insists on immediate action to appoint additional medical staff and to fully equip the hospital to offer high-level care.

Patients in need of emergency and accident care at night are often forced to travel to Coimbatore due to insufficient treatment facilities, leading to a continuous state of apprehension. The Patients Welfare Association is urging the government to take swift action to address these issues.
