Coimbatore: TNAU’s Centre for Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, The Department of Plant Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics organized Hands on Training - Modeling, Docking and Simulation, 8 th to 11 th January 2024.
Participants includes faculty, PG, PhD students from various Institutes, industries viz., Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, Puducherry, PI Industries, Rajasthan, Annamalai University, ICAR- Central Institute of Fisheries Education, VELS University, Bharathiyar University, ICAR-Sugarcane Breeding Institute, St.Johns College, Palayamkottai, and students from TNAU.

The Training program started with the inaugural session on 8 th January. Director CPMB, Director (Seed Centre), HOD of Department of Plant Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics, faculty from CPMB graced the occasion. The hands on session were delivered by the faculties from Bioinformatics department and Dr.S.Divya, Sr.Application Scientist from Altem Technologies, Bangalore. The Participants were given Hands on experience to both commercial software viz., Discovery studio and online softwares for Modeling, Docking and Simulation. It can be used to perform virtual screening on large libraries of compounds, rank the results, and propose structural hypotheses of how the ligands inhibit the target, which is invaluable in lead optimization.
Subsequently, valedictory session on 11.1.24 started with welcome address by Dr.A.John Joel, Professor and Head, Dept. of Plant Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics. The training report was presented by Dr.N.Bharathi, Assistant Professor (Bioinformatics). Valedictory address was delivered by Dr.N.Senthil, Director CPMB&B & Dean (SPGS). The certificates were distributed to the participants and the training was concluded with the feedback of the participants. The formal Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr.N.Saranya, Assistant Professor (Bioinformatics).
