DMK Secretary Na. Karthik Highlights Welfare Schemes in Tamil New Year and Pongal Message

Former MLA Na. Karthik, in his Tamil New Year and Pongal message, emphasized various welfare schemes implemented by the DMK government, focusing on inclusive growth and social welfare.


Coimbatore: Ex.MLA and DMK Secretary Na. Karthik released a statement today marking the Tamil New Year and Pongal celebrations. He emphasized the DMK government's commitment to inclusive growth and social welfare through a range of welfare schemes.

The key initiatives highlighted include the 'Kalaignar Women's Rights Scheme' providing Rs. 1,000 monthly aid, the 'Puthumai Penn Scheme' offering financial assistance to college girls, and free bus travel for women. The government also offers a subsidy for up to 5 sovereigns of gold loan at cooperative banks, free electricity connections for farmers' pump sets benefiting 1.5 lakh agriculturists, and a breakfast scheme for school children.

In his message, Karthik applauded the Chief Minister's health insurance scheme and the 'Nammai Kaakum 48' (Protecting Us 48) medical initiative. He also mentioned the financial assistance program for differently-abled individuals, emphasizing the DMK's philosophy of 'everything for everyone'.

Karthik's message focused on celebrating Pongal as a festival of equality, beyond caste and religious differences. He stressed the need to celebrate the natural and agricultural richness of Tamil Nadu, wishing prosperity, abundance, and enlightenment to all.

As part of the celebration, he called for a united Tamil Nadu, where everyone, irrespective of their social standing, comes together in the spirit of equality and harmony, symbolized by the sharing of Pongal.
