Tensions rose in Pollachi, Coimbatore, following a controversial social media post related to the Ayodhya Ram by DMK official Thendral Selvaraj, and his son Manimaran.

Coimbatore: Tensions rose in Pollachi, Coimbatore, following a controversial social media post related to the Ayodhya Ram Temple. DMK official Thenral Selvaraj, and his son Manimaran from Kumaran Nagar, Pollachi, posted a provocative comment about preparing beef biryani for Lord Rama. This led to a confrontation between DMK and BJP members at the DMK official's residence.

Today, a group of BJP members, led by city leader Paramaguru, attempted to present a picture of Lord Rama to the DMK official as a form of protest. In response, Manimaran displayed a picture of Periyar and raised slogans against the BJP. The situation escalated into a clash between the two sides.

Subsequently, the police intervened and arrested Paramaguru and 20 other BJP members. Following this, DMK members, under the leadership of city secretary Navaneethakrishnan, staged a road blockade at Gandhi Statue, Pollachi-Coimbatore road, demanding legal action against the arrested BJP members and their imprisonment. After negotiations with the police, who assured action, the DMK members ended the blockade. However, this protest caused temporary traffic disruptions on the Coimbatore road.
