My Shopping My Bag expo flagged off by Corporation Commissioner at RS Puram Kalaiarangam.

'My Shopping Myself Bag' expo was flagged off this morning by Corporation Commissioner Dr.K. Vijayakarthikeyan at the Corporation Kalaiarangam, RS Puram.

This initiative has been organised, in a bid to promote eco-friendly products and to annihilate plastics usage from the city.

The organisers of this expo strongly believe that in recent times people are aware of the hazards created by plastics to their health and to the environment. But unfortunately, they are unaware of the alternatives for plastic. And, that's the reason, we planned to organise an expo to create awareness on alternatives at a mass level, the Organisers said.

Cutlery made of palm leaves, coconut fibres, colourful cloth bags made of old sarees, screen cloths, bed spreads, paper bags, bags made of corn starch and much more surprising eco-friendly products are available for sale.

This expo will also be a platform for women to start small scale business by creating eco-friendly products, as few of the wholesale organisations who have displayed their products are open for franchise model. The expo will be open from 11 am to 8 pm today and tomorrow.
