Kodanad Estate Murder-Robbery Case: Experts to Collect Mobile and Tower Data for Investigation

Forensic experts from the National Forensic Sciences University in Gujarat are set to visit the BSNL office in Trichy to collect crucial mobile and tower data related to the Kodanad estate murder-robbery case.

Coimbatore: The mysterious murder-robbery incident at the Kodanad estate, owned by the late former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, located near Kotagiri in the Nilgiris district, has taken a new turn with forensic experts from the National Forensic Sciences University in Gujarat preparing to visit the BSNL office in Trichy to collect mobile and tower data. This estate was the scene of a gruesome crime in 2017 involving murder and robbery. The police investigation revealed that ten individuals, including Kanagaraj from Salem and Sayan from Kerala, were involved in the incident. Tragically, Kanagaraj, considered a key suspect, died in an accident.

Following these developments, the police arrested ten individuals, including Sayan and Manoj from Valaiyar, all of whom are currently out on bail. The ongoing case is being heard at the Ooty District Court and is now under the scrutiny of the CBCID police, who are actively gathering various pieces of evidence.

As part of the investigation, efforts are underway to collect detailed information from 19 cellphone towers, including call records and mobile numbers registered on the day of the crime in 2017. A cassette containing this data, collected from the Trichy BSNL office, was submitted to the Ooty court last year and has now been sent to the National Forensic Sciences University for further analysis.

This move to gather additional data is aimed at aiding the CBCID police in their ongoing investigation, with the team from Gujarat expected to arrive in Trichy to directly collect the required information from the BSNL office, focusing on the cellphone and tower records from the day of the Kodanad estate murder-robbery incident.
