Coimbatore: In a recent announcement, District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati revealed plans for "Coimbatore Sangamam, Our Hometown Festival," to be held on February 10 and 11. This cultural festival, organized by the Tamil Nadu Government's Department of Art and Culture, will take place at VOC Park and will be inaugurated by the Minister for Housing and Urban Development, S. Muthusamy. The Minister for Information and Publicity, M.P. Saminathan, is set to deliver a special address.
The festival will witness participation from prominent city and state officials, including the District Collector, Mayor Kalpana Anandakumar, City Municipal Commissioner Sivaguru Prabhakaran, Members of Parliament, Legislative Assembly members, and representatives from local governing bodies.
On February 10, the festivities will kick off with performances such as Naiyandi Melam by Chinnavedampatti Sri Alamelu Mangammal, Nanjappan Group, Toda Dance by the Nilgiri Mountain Queen Amsamalli Group, Bharatanatyam by the Sankaram Dance School Smritha Arora Group, Thudumbattam by the Mettupalayam Cheran, Saminathan Group, Silambattam by the Rudranjaneeya Rudramoorthy Group, native art performances by the Erode Mukhil Art Devi Group, and the "Pokkisham" drama by the Kathiravan Arts Group.
The following day, February 11, will feature Bharatanatyam by the Navarasa Natyalaya Vijayalakshmi Group, native folk arts by the Mettupalayam Kalaivani Gramiya Kalai Group, Silambattam by the Selvi Tharani Group, traditional Kolattam by the Vagarayampalayam Gopal Group, and Jiggaatam by the Pollachi Kannadi Venpura Vijayakumar Group.
All the cultural events are scheduled to take place from 6 PM to 9 PM, and the public, including school and college students, are encouraged to participate and experience the richness of local culture and arts firsthand.
