Revamped Water Purification Plant Inaugurated in Pollachi to Meet Public Drinking Water Needs

A newly renovated water purification plant worth Rs. 1 crore 10 lakhs was inaugurated in Pollachi by City Council Chairman Shyamala Navaneethakrishnan, addressing the increasing drinking water demands of the locality.

Pollachi, February 15: In a significant development aimed at addressing the escalating drinking water needs of the Pollachi urban area, a newly renovated water purification plant has been inaugurated. Located on Kalpana Road, within the jurisdiction of the Udumalai municipality in Tirupur district, the plant's revamp was initiated with a budget of Rs. 1 crore 10 lakhs. The inauguration ceremony saw City Council Chairman Shyamala Navaneethakrishnan and Commissioner Suppaiya, marking the plant operational for public use.

The upgrade includes the installation of electric meters and is expected to significantly improve the water supply across the 36 wards of Pollachi, where residents have faced challenges in accessing clean drinking water. The project's completion comes as a relief to the locals, who previously received water only once every four days due to insufficient infrastructure and neglect by past administrations.

Speaking to the media, Chairman Shyamala Navaneethakrishnan highlighted the DMK government's commitment to prioritizing the drinking water needs of the people. She pointed out that the lack of investment in necessary equipment by previous authorities had led to the dire situation. With the new DMK regime, efforts have been intensified to ensure a steady supply of purified drinking water, aiming to provide water on alternate days, thus significantly improving the quality of life for Pollachi's residents.

This initiative reflects the government's responsive approach to the critical needs of its citizens, promising a more sustainable and reliable water supply system for Pollachi.
