22 Arrested for Gambling in Coimbatore Garden, Rs 3.23 Lakhs Seized

Coimbatore police conducted a sudden raid in a garden near Sultanpet, seizing over Rs 3.23 lakhs and arresting 22 individuals involved in gambling activities.


Coimbatore: In a significant crackdown on illegal gambling activities, the Coimbatore District Police arrested 22 individuals for gambling in the Avarangadu garden near Sencheri Puthur, close to Sultanpet. The operation was launched following a tip-off about ongoing gambling activities in the area. Sub Inspector Muthukrishnan led the sudden inspection on the evening of February 19th, uncovering the illicit operation.

Among those arrested were individuals from various localities, including 48-year-old Chinna Vadugapalayam's Subramani, 40-year-old Paruvai's Karthik, 60-year-old Loorthupuram's Selvaraj, 50-year-old Rudhravathi's Viswanathan, 51-year-old Velliyangadu's Senthilkumar, 46-year-old Kattampatti's Murthy, 48-year-old Vadugapalayam's Kathirvel, 52-year-old Thennampalayam's Sekar, 36-year-old Vijayamangalam, and 53-year-old Velliyangadu's Marudhachalam. The police operation resulted in the confiscation of Rs 3,23,600 used in the gambling activities.

This raid forms part of a broader effort by the Coimbatore police to clamp down on gambling, aiming to deter such illegal activities within the community.
