Commissioner of Police advice students to learn traffic rules before starting to use vehicles

An awareness session for school students on traffic rules was hosted in the Childrens' Traffic Park, Dr. Balasundaram Road. Commissioner of Police A. Amalraj flagged off the session.

Around 128 students from Krishnammal Girls Higher secondary school and Hindustan Higher School took part in the session. The traffic police also taught these participants on how to ride cycles and also educated them on basic traffic guidelines and the importance of adhering to traffic rules.

Addressing the students, Commissioner of Police A. Amalraj said, 'Accidents are unpredictable but the question is whether the victim adhered to traffic rules? Carelessness and nob-adherence to traffic rules have attributed to most of the accidents.

Before starting to use vehicles, students should possess thorough knowledge of traffic rules. As, exhibiting lethargic attitude in abiding traffic rules can turn fatal.

Last year, 300 people have lost their precious life due to road accidents in Coimbatore. And, thousands of people have met with road accidents.   There are people who have lost their arm/limb through accidents and suffer for a livelihood for rest of their lives. When analysed, disobeying traffic rules has the been the reason for increasing rate of accidents.

Before you step out in your vehicles, learn driving professionally; understand the road rules thoroughly and be responsible drivers', said COP, A. Amalraj.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (traffic) S. Saravanan, Assistant Commissioner, Traffic (east) Kodi Selvan, Traffic Inspector (east) Ayyarsamy and other officials from the traffic and police department participated in the event.
