Mayor Kalpana Anandakumar and Commissioner M.Sivaguru Prabakaran conducted an inspection today, 12.03.2024, for the removal of silt accumulated near the drinking water pipelines extending from Bhavani Dam to Coimbatore Municipal areas and initiated various development works.
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Municipal Corporation has undertaken the removal of silt accumulated near the drinking water pipelines extending from Bhavani Dam to various municipal areas. Mayor Kalpana Anandakumar and Municipal Commissioner M.Sivaguru Prabakaran personally inspected the chief water intake station in the region today, March 12, 2024.

Following the inspection, in Ward No. 89, which includes areas like P.N.T. Colony, Sameem Garden, and Judicial Colony, a borewell was installed at a cost of Rs. 20 lakhs from the municipal corporation's public fund, inaugurated by the Mayor and the Municipal Commissioner to improve drinking water supply.

Furthermore, they also reviewed the progress of a connecting road project from Kovai Pudur Housing Unit Road to Sundakkamuthur Road in Ward No. 89, and another connecting road from Pollachi Road in Ward No. 100 to Chettipalayam Road. These initiatives aim to enhance infrastructure and connectivity in the respective areas.
Additionally, under the "Namakku Naame" scheme, in Ward No. 92, construction works have begun on a retaining wall and a stormwater drain from S.S. Garden to Senthil Nagar, including a small bridge construction, valued at Rs. 149 lakhs. These works are intended to prevent flooding and improve rainwater drainage.

The event was attended by Deputy Mayor R.Vetriselvan, Party Leader Karthikeyan, council members Vijayakumar, Babu, Senthilkumar, Murugesan, City Engineer Murugesan, Assistant Commissioner (Engineering) Ilankovan, Executive Engineer Karuppasamy, Assistant Executive Engineers Kanagaraj, Assistant Town Planner Jayalakshmi, Assistant Engineers Sathiyamoorthy, Sakthivel, Nasar, Gopalakrishnan, and other municipal officials.
