Postal Voting Arrangements for Elderly and Differently-Abled in Coimbatore Announced by District Collector

Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit the homes of these voters with Form 12D and the voter list to record their preference. This direct engagement is designed to simplify the process of expressing their voting preference and ensure their participation is recorded accurately

Coimbatore: In an effort to facilitate a smoother voting process for the differently-abled and elderly voters, Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati has announced special arrangements for postal voting. This decision comes in the wake of the announcement of the 18th Lok Sabha general elections for 2024, aimed at ensuring that all voters can participate in the electoral process without difficulty.

The initiative targets voters who are differently-abled and those aged 85 and above, aiming to reduce the physical strain of travelling to polling booths. To support this, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit the homes of these voters with Form 12D and the voter list to record their preference. This direct engagement is designed to simplify the process of expressing their voting preference and ensure their participation is recorded accurately and securely.

Furthermore, to facilitate the postal voting process, voters are encouraged to submit their filled Form 12D to the appointed officers at either the Coimbatore District Collector's office, relevant constituency election officers, or to their respective Assistant Returning Officer by March 24, 2024. This measure is part of a broader commitment to making the upcoming general elections accessible, fair, and smooth for all participants.

The administration is keen on ensuring that the voting process is inclusive and urges the eligible voters to cooperate with the officials in making the electoral exercise a success. With these arrangements, Coimbatore District aims to lead by example in creating a voting environment that accommodates the needs of all its citizens.
