Coimbatore Gears Up for 2024 Parliamentary Elections: Voting Machines Deployed to Constituencies

In preparation for the 2024 Parliamentary elections, 11,464 voting machines, control units, and VVPATs were dispatched under heavy security to 10 constituencies in Coimbatore on March 20.

Coimbatore: As the city braces for the 2024 Parliamentary elections, a significant step was taken on the night of March 20, with the dispatch of voting machines to the ten constituencies within the district. The operation was conducted from the Coimbatore South Taluk office, where the machines had been securely stored.

In a meticulously organized effort, 3,719 voting machines, an equal number of control units, and 4,026 VVPATs (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail) machines, totaling 11,464 units, were transported under the vigilant protection of the paramilitary forces and police to their respective destinations.

Each constituency has designated secure rooms where the machines are to be sorted booth-wise and inspected to ensure their functionality. Following this, the rooms will be sealed in the presence of the Assistant Electoral Officer, ensuring the integrity and security of the election infrastructure.

Additionally, CCTV cameras have been installed in the storage rooms of the voting machines, with police officers monitoring from the control room, providing round-the-clock surveillance to prevent any tampering or security breaches.

This strategic deployment underscores the comprehensive measures being undertaken to safeguard the electoral process, reinforcing the commitment to conduct a fair and transparent election in Coimbatore.
