Meteorological dept warns of heat waves, Coimbatore temperature to rise upto 41°C

Indian Meteorological department have announced that strong heat waves will hit India during the coming week, causing a hike in overall temperature. Presently, Akola in Maharashtra tops the list of hottest cities in India with a maximum temperature of 44.1°C.

Meteorologists have apprised that a 2 to 3 degree hike in temperature is expected across the nation.

Back here in Coimbatore, it's already scorching summer. For the past ten days, the mercury is 'grilling' people as the city records first in maximum temperature, when compared to other parts in South India.

Coimbatore (37 degree Celsius) records the highest temperature when compared to Vellore (37°C), Madurai (29°C), Tirunelveli (24°C), Tuticorin (33°C) which are considered to be the worst places for summer.

And, now a possible shocking hike from 38°C to 41°C will definitely take the Coimbatoreans for a toss.

Karthick, a sales representative from the city shared that, 'OMG! 40-41 degree Celsius is shocking. This year, summer is very bad in Coimbatore, the heat doesn't subside even after 5 pm in the evening. And , now this heat wave thing, it's really threatening'.

Ram Prasad, an office-goer shares that, '40-41 degree reminds me of Chennai. Coimbatore's climate is getting worse every year. To withstand the scorching sun in the signals is the worst part. May be the traffic police department should cut down on the signal duration and help the motorists cross the signals quickly'.

Shanmugha Sundaram, a retired citizen shares that, 'Schools should be given off during such intense situations. Parents have to go to pick up the children in the mid of the day when the temperature is at the peak. Every year in Coimbatore, the temperature is on a rise and rains have vanished'.

Senior citizens, childrens, pregnant women, people with illness, people prone to migraines and others who are prone to heat-related illness are advised to take necessary precautionary measures and stay hydrated.
