Major Fire Breaks Out in Plastic and Cotton Warehouse in Kuniyamuthur, Coimbatore

A fire incident occurred in a warehouse storing plastic items and cotton in Kuniyamuthur, Coimbatore, on April 3rd, due to an electrical short circuit, causing significant damage and challenging firefighting efforts.


Coimbatore: A severe fire broke out in a warehouse complex in Idaiyarpalayam near Kuniyamuthur, Coimbatore, on the evening of April 3rd, 2024. The warehouses, rented out by Suresh in a garden owned by Kannappan, stored plastic products and cotton used for making headgear.



The fire, triggered by an electrical short circuit, quickly spread across more than five warehouses, making the firefighting efforts extremely challenging.



The dense smoke and rapid spread of the fire to adjacent warehouses compounded the difficulty in controlling the blaze.In response to the emergency, the fire department deployed three firefighting vehicles to the scene.



They are currently undertaking the arduous task of extinguishing the fire. The presence of plastic and cotton has resulted in thick black smoke rising high into the sky, indicating the severity of the fire.The incident has resulted in the destruction of goods worth lakhs of rupees, highlighting the dangers posed by storing flammable materials without proper safety measures.
