Coimbatore Players Selected for Tamil Nadu U-20 Football Team

Three footballers from Coimbatore have been selected to represent Tamil Nadu in the Swami Vivekananda U-20 National Football Championship in Narainpur, Chhattisgarh, from April 12, 2024.


Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Football Association (TFA) has announced the selection of three players from the Coimbatore District Football Association (CDFA) for the state's U-20 team. The selection is part of the preparations for the upcoming Swami Vivekananda U-20 National Football Championship, scheduled to take place in Narainpur, Chhattisgarh.

The players were part of a broader group from the CDFA who attended selection trials on March 10 and 11, 2024, at AJK College Football Ground, Coimbatore. Over 50 local aspirants showcased their skills, with TFA norms guiding the final selection of 25 players. These players then proceeded to Dindigul for further selection trials held by TFA from March 12 to 14.

Out of the statewide selections, 18 players were chosen for the Tamil Nadu team, among them Jaya Surya S, Vikash R.S, and Mohamed Safwaan K from Coimbatore. Their selection not only highlights their exceptional skills but also brings pride to the CDFA and the local football community.

On behalf of CDFA's office bearers, members, referees, and coaches, there's a profound sense of pride and heartfelt congratulations extended to these young talents. Their journey represents significant hope for the future of football in Coimbatore and Tamil Nadu.
