Coimbatore: In a significant move to enhance rail connectivity, the Bangalore-Coimbatore Uday double decker express, which currently operates under the train numbers 22665/22666, is set to be extended up to Palakkad. This extension will see the train service passing through Podanur and Pollachi, areas that have long demanded better train connectivity.

The trial run for this extended route is scheduled for Wednesday, 17th April 2024. It will operate between Coimbatore and Palakkad via the Podanur-Pollachi route. This initiative is expected to benefit many, including residents of Pollachi, Kinathukadavu, and those traveling towards Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, and Bangalore.

This new extension will provide direct train service to Bangalore for the first time for many local commuters, significantly reducing travel time and enhancing convenience. This development has been confirmed by Pollachi MP Shanmugasundaram, who emphasized the positive impact the extended service will have on the region's connectivity and economic activities.
