104-year-old Coimbatore Resident Casts Vote in Parliamentary Election

A 104-year-old man from Kaniyur, Coimbatore, fulfilled his democratic duty by voting in the 2024 Parliamentary election held on April 19, accompanied by his son and grandson.


Coimbatore: In a stirring display of civic engagement, a 104-year-old resident participated in the 2024 Parliamentary elections in Tamil Nadu, which took place today, April 19. From early morning at 7 AM, eager voters lined up to cast their ballots.




In the Coimbatore Parliamentary constituency, this extraordinary centenarian, Ganapathi Gounder from Kaniyur near Oonjapalayam village, arrived at the polling station with his son and great-grandchildren to exercise his voting rights. Showing that age is just a number when it comes to fulfilling democratic responsibilities, Ganapathi has set an inspiring example for voters of all ages. His participation highlights the importance of every single vote and the intrinsic value of participating in the democratic process.
