Sudden Road Blockade Protest at Singanallur Bus Station, Coimbatore

On April 19, passengers waiting to travel south for voting faced long delays at Singanallur Bus Station, Coimbatore, leading to a sudden road blockade protest due to insufficient bus services.

Coimbatore: Early on April 19, as the Lok Sabha elections voting commenced across Tamil Nadu, a sudden protest erupted at Singanallur Bus Station. With over 200 buses announced to facilitate southbound travel from Coimbatore, crowds of passengers anticipated smooth journeys to their hometowns to cast their votes. However, the reality was starkly different due to a lack of sufficient government-run buses, forcing many to endure lengthy waits.

Responding to the escalating situation, police and transportation officials arrived at the protest site and engaged in discussions with the public. Assurances were given to increase bus services promptly, which eventually calmed the crowd, and the blockade was lifted. The police remained vigilant in the area to ensure smooth traffic flow and prevent any further disruptions.
