Coimbatore: With the recent conclusion of votes for the Coimbatore Parliamentary constituency, heavy security measures have been implemented at Government College of Technology (GCT) on Thadagam Road where EVM machines are stored. To safeguard these devices, a drone flying ban has been enacted in the surrounding areas.

The police have declared GCT and its nearby regions, including Saibaba Colony, Venkatapuram, Velantipalayam, Idayarpalayam, Vadakovai, R.S Puram, Poosari Palayam, Seeranaickenpalayam, Vadavalli, P.N Pudur, and nearby localities, as temporary red zones (no-fly zones). This significant measure spans from April 28, 2024, at 6:00 AM until May 2, 2024, at 6:00 AM, covering a 96-hour period.
