Coimbatore: In a significant narcotics crackdown, Priyaranjan Sahoo, a 26-year-old man from Odisha, was arrested by the Coimbatore police for possession and sale of cannabis. The arrest occurred near Malumichampatti - Podipalayam road following a tip-off received by the Prohibition Enforcement Wing of Periyanayakkanpalayam on April 29.

Following a search operation, the law enforcement officers discovered 1.2 kilograms of cannabis along with a two-wheeler in Sahoo's possession. He was subsequently detained and referred to judicial custody.

In a related case, Sulur Police also acted on similar intelligence received on the same day, leading to another operation in the Kadamapatti area. Two Bihar natives, Rajababu Saha (30) and Vijay Saha (31), were detained for possessing and intending to sell cannabis. More than 1 kilogram of the drug was seized from them, leading to their incarceration pending a court hearing.
