Election Commission Announces Voting Percentages for the First Two Phases of Elections

The Election Commission officially announced the voting percentages for the first two phases of elections, with 66.14% in phase one and 66.71% in phase two, held across multiple states.


Coimbatore: The Election Commission has officially released the voting percentages for the first two stages of the current election cycle. The first phase recorded a voting percentage of 66.14%, covering 102 constituencies across 21 states on April 19. These states include Arunachal Pradesh (2 constituencies), Assam (5), Bihar (4), Chhattisgarh (1), Madhya Pradesh (6), Maharashtra (5), Manipur (2), Meghalaya (2), Mizoram (1), Nagaland (1), Rajasthan (12), Sikkim (1), Tamil Nadu (39), Puducherry (1), Uttar Pradesh (8), Uttarakhand (5), West Bengal (3), Andaman and Nicobar Islands (1), and Jammu & Kashmir (1).

The second phase, held on April 26, saw a slightly higher voting percentage of 66.71% across 88 constituencies in 13 states. This included Assam (5), Bihar (5), Chhattisgarh (3), Karnataka (14), Kerala (20), Madhya Pradesh (6), Maharashtra (8), Manipur (1), Rajasthan (13), Tripura (1), Uttar Pradesh (8), West Bengal (3), and Jammu & Kashmir (1).

The commission compared these figures with the 2019 elections, where the first and second phases had voting percentages of 69.43% and 69.17% respectively. The elections proceeded smoothly without any significant incidents, ensuring a peaceful voting process. Furthermore, the turnout in terms of gender shows that in the first phase, male voters had a participation rate of 66.22%, female voters 66.07%, and voters of the third gender 31.32%. In the second phase, the figures were 66.99% for male voters, 66.42% for female voters, and 23.86% for third gender voters.
