May Day was celebrated at Thudiyalur Bus Stop in Coimbatore with flag hoisting by the Anna Trade Union and distribution of sweets and welfare assistance by the National Scheduled Castes People's Movement.
Coimbatore: The Thudiyalur area in Coimbatore witnessed festive celebrations as the Anna Trade Union, supported by the AIADMK Coimbatore Suburban North District, marked May Day with flag hoisting and rallying cries for worker welfare. VR Murugesan, Secretary of Thudiyalur Anna Trade Union, presided over the event, with energetic speeches welcomed by Jayakumar, second circle Secretary, and Shanthi Bhushan, first circle Secretary, leading the procession.
Special guests included PRG Arunkumar, MLA of Kaundampalayam, and former MLA OK Chinnaraj, among others, who participated in hoisting the trade union flag.
During the event, chants of "Long live May Day" and "Long live Workers' Day" filled the air as officials distributed sweets to the public, fostering a communal spirit of celebration and solidarity.

In tandem with the day’s labor celebrations, the National Scheduled Castes People's Movement, under the guidance of PRG Arunkumar who also laid flowers at the portrait of Ambedkar, offered their aid by distributing note books to school children, rice bags for differently-abled persons, sarees for women, and shirts for men. This gesture underscored a commitment to uplift various community members on this significant day.

Both factions of the AIADMK party and member of the National Scheduled Castes People's Movement, along with the general public, participated in large numbers, making this May Day not just a celebration but also a platform for actual societal benefit and engagement.
