Drone Flying Banned Around Coimbatore Government College of Technology

Coimbatore Police issued a drone flying ban around Government College of Technology and nearby areas until May 10 to secure stored EVM machines for the upcoming 2024 Parliament election.

Coimbatore: In anticipation of the 2024 Parliamentary elections, significant security measures are in place at the Government College of Technology (GCT), where Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) are securely stored. To enhance security, the Coimbatore City Police have declared a temporary no-fly zone over GCT and its surrounding areas, effective from 6 AM on May 6, 2024, to 6 AM on May 10, 2024. The no-fly zone spans several neighborhoods including Saibaba Colony, Venkatapuram, Velandipalayam, Idayarpalayam, Vadakovai, RS Puram, Poosaripalayam, Seeranaickenpalayam, Vadavalli, and PN Pudur.

This extensive area has been designated as RED ZONE (NO FLY ZONE) to prevent any unauthorized drone activity that could compromise the security of the EVMs. The Coimbatore City Police recently updated their social media pages with posters announcing these restrictions, ensuring the public is aware and compliant with the temporary regulations. Residents and visitors within these areas are advised to follow the guidelines and cooperate with law enforcement agencies to maintain safety and security during this sensitive period.
