Tourist Car Overturns in Mettupalayam-Kotagiri Road Trench

A tourist vehicle from Coimbatore overturned in a trench near Vandi Solai on the Mettupalayam-Kotagiri road today, causing minor injuries to the occupants.


Coimbatore: In a dramatic incident on the Mettupalayam-Kotagiri road, a tourist vehicle from Coimbatore veered off the road and capsized into a roadside trench today, May 6. This happened on a stretch near Vandi Solai when the vehicle, speeding through a curve, suddenly lost control. Passersby and other motorists rushed to the rescue of the occupants, who sustained minor injuries in the mishap.


Despite the recent sporadic light rains in the Nilgiris district, which has faced dry conditions for the past few months, the accident occurred under unclear circumstances. Following the incident, a case was registered, and the police began an investigation. The driver of the car reportedly fled the scene due to fears that the passengers might have been killed, leading to his subsequent disappearance.
