Smuggled Gold Worth Rs. 90 Lakhs Seized at Coimbatore Airport

Coimbatore: In a significant operation last night, Customs officials at Coimbatore Airport confiscated smuggled gold valued at Rs. 90 lakhs. The seizure occurred after a suspicious male passenger, arriving from Singapore, was inspected upon his arrival.

The passenger, an Indian national, was found to be carrying ten gold bars and two chains, weighing a total of 1,220 grams, approximated at Rs. 90,28,000 in value. The authorities have initiated a detailed investigation following the recovery of the smuggled items.
