Russian Universities Reserve Over 8,000 Medical Seats for Indian Students

Russian universities have allocated over 8,000 medical seats for Indian students, announced at a press meet in Coimbatore. Admissions are based on NEET scores and Plus 2 results.

Coimbatore: In a significant development, Russian universities have announced the reservation of over 8,000 medical seats exclusively for Indian students. This announcement was made during a press meeting held at a private restaurant on Avinashi Road, attended by various dignitaries including Alexander Dodonov, Director of the Russian Cultural Center and Deputy Ambassador, along with Associate Professor Victoria Naumova from Volgograd State Medical University, Professor Elina Sarapultseva from the National Nuclear Research University, and C. Ravichandran, Education Advisor from Study Abroad.

The officials highlighted that Russian institutions are increasingly preferred by international students, with more than 600 universities hosting over 300,000 students from around 200 countries. Notably, approximately 25,000 Indian students are currently enrolled across 30 Russian universities following the guidelines issued by the Indian Medical Commission in 2021. The curriculum, duration of studies, medical training, and the medium of instruction align with the highest international standards.

Furthermore, in response to the growing demand for quality medical education at affordable costs, Russia continues to enhance the number of seats available to Indian students. In the last year alone, around 6,000 Indian students were admitted into medical programs. For the upcoming academic year, the number of these seats has been increased to 8,000.

Prospective students do not need to appear for any separate English proficiency tests and can complete their medical education at a cost of about 3 lakh INR per year. Additionally, the Russian government annually offers 100% scholarships to 200 Indian students based on their Plus 2 scores.

In a notable move to make education accessible, Russian universities have removed the need for English proficiency tests for students educated in Tamil, allowing them to apply in fields like Medicine and Engineering. A direct admissions event will be held on the upcoming Friday, the 17th, at the Grand Regent Hotel on Avinashi Road. For more information, interested candidates can contact at 92822-21221.
