Doddabetta Peak Access Closed to Tourists for 7 Days Due to Traffic Congestion Initiatives

Tourists are barred from accessing Doddabetta Peak in Ooty from May 16 to May 22, as the forest department rearranges the FASTag checkpoint to ease traffic congestion.


The Nilgiris: The renowned Doddabetta Peak in Ooty will be off-limits to tourists for a week starting tomorrow. The closure, announced by Nilgiris Forest Range Officer Gautam, is to facilitate the relocation of a FASTag checking station aimed at reducing road congestion.

The work on the new setup will take place from May 16 to May 22, during which the road leading to Doddabetta Peak will be completely inaccessible to the public. This proactive measure is expected to streamline traffic and enhance visitor experience in the future.

Travelers planning to visit the peak are advised to reschedule their plans accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
