Malayalam Film Producer Johnny Thomas Arrested in Rs 2.75 Crore Fraud Case

Johnny Thomas, a Malayalam film producer, was arrested at Kochi International Airport while attempting to travel to Dubai, concerning a Rs 2.75 crore fraud case filed by Coimbatore-based Udhayashankar.


Coimbatore: Malayalam film producer Johnny Thomas has been apprehended in connection with a Rs 2.75 crore fraud case. The arrest occurred at Kochi International Airport on May 14th as he was attempting to depart for Dubai. The case stems from allegations made by Udhayashankar, a resident of Vadavalli, Coimbatore, currently living in Canada. It is alleged that Thomas defrauded him of the said amount during the years 2016 and 2017 for the production of the Malayalam movie 'Nonsense', which was released in 2018. Following his arrest, Thomas was handed over to Neduvassal police and subsequently taken into custody by a special crime unit on May 15th, who brought him back to Coimbatore for further proceedings.
