Coimbatore Transport Corporation General Manager Sridhar announced phasing out old buses, introducing new ones including lavender-colored women's free buses.
Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation's Coimbatore Division is set to phase out old buses operating in the district and introduce new ones, according to General Manager Sridhar. This move, announced on May 16, is part of an effort to enhance the quality of public transportation.
Furthermore, the corporation has decided to roll out an additional 26 urban buses, already having launched six new lavender-colored buses earmarked as free services for women. This initiative falls in line with the government's commitment to improve transit facilities for female passengers by offering them free rides. "All subsequent women's free buses will be of the same lavender color, and they will prominently display notices indicating 'Free Ride for Women'," Sridhar added.
