Coimbatore: In a significant event highlighting the evolution of education in India, the Governor of Tamil Nadu, R.N. Ravi, inaugurated a two-day national seminar on 'Educational Reforms in New India'.

The seminar started yesterday, June 8, at a star hotel in Coimbatore. Organized by Bharatiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasang and Ashiriyar Organizations, the event saw participation from educators across the nation who converged to discuss the salient features of the National Education Policy and traditional educational values aligning with the country’s heritage.

In his inaugural address, Governor Ravi emphasized the rapid technological advancements impacting all sectors globally and the critical role of knowledge-based evolution in this dynamic environment. He remarked, "India was once acknowledged as a global leader centuries ago. Post the British colonial rule, and even after gaining independence, India was positioned 11th in the global economy largely due to the influence of Western thought. However, our National Education Policy paves the way for reclaimingtoning the rich educational heritage that predates such influences."

The conference featured numerous sessions focusing on integrating traditional Indian knowledge systems into contemporary education frameworks, highlighting the importance of cultural heritage in the educational sphere. Governor Ravi urged the education sector to align more closely with the ancient philosophies of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' (the world is one family) and to re-center Indian education on Bharatiya cultural and spiritual values that have been the essence of the nation for centuries.

As the seminar progresses, discussions are set to explore the practical implementation of these reforms across various educational contexts in India, aiming to propel the nation back into the forefront of global educational standards in the coming years.
