Civil Service Preliminary Exam Held in Coimbatore with 4,386 Candidates Participating

On June 16, 4,386 individuals took the Civil Service Preliminary Exam in Coimbatore. Despite 7,332 applications, 2,946 candidates failed to appear. The exam was conducted in two sessions.


Coimbatore: A significant number of aspirants, 4,386 to be precise, participated in the Civil Service Preliminary Exam conducted in Coimbatore on June 16. The exam, consisting of an initial screening for Civil Services and Indian Forest Service positions under UPSC, unfolds in three stages: preliminary, main, and interview. Nationwide, this exam was held on a Sunday across various centers.

The first paper of this exam occurred from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, while the second paper took place later that afternoon from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Candidates were required to arrive an hour early, and those arriving after the permitted time were not allowed entry to the exam centers.

Throughout Coimbatore district, the exam was executed in 17 different centers. Out of 7,332 registered candidates, only 4,411 appeared for the first paper in the morning session, with 2,921 missing the exam. In the afternoon, 4,386 of the registered candidates wrote the second paper, marking a 59.82% attendance for that session.

R. Selvaraj, the state observer from the Central Staff Selection Commission, oversaw the examination process at the PSG College of Arts and Science, ensuring proper conduct and compliance with the regulations.
