The event took place at the Kumaraguru campus' vibrant setting in Saravanampatti, highlighting the institution's pledge towards pushing the boundaries of innovation and sustainability. Team ReNew is setting a benchmark by being the first team from India to compete in the Prototype class of the Shell Eco Marathon Asia Pacific’s Hydrogen Fuel Cell category. Meanwhile, Team Sea Sakthi prepares for their notable third entry into the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, continuing their legacy as pioneers in sustainable marine technology.

Team ReNew comprises eight passionate students from Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT) who have designed the three-wheeled vehicle, Thimi. Using a cutting-edge carbon fiber monocoque structure and a hydrogen fuel cell, their aspiration at the Shell Eco Marathon Asia Pacific heralds a crucial step towards low-carbon mobility. With over 5,000 participants from 50 countries, the competition is a formidable platform for showcasing groundbreaking energy solutions.

Their preparation includes various sustainable and innovative elements such as using upcycled materials for the chassis and a highly efficient BLDC Midrive Motor. This meticulous effort exemplifies their ambition to scale new heights of environmental preservation and technological advancement.

On another front, the dedicated twelve-member Team Sea Sakthi from KCT is gearing up for their season at the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge 202Q4. Yali 3.0, their fully autonomous boat, is set to compete in the Energy Class, emphasizing the use of renewable energy. The challenge focuses on designing an efficient propulsion system where Yali 3.0 stands out with its twin propulsion systems powered by an indigenously built 10 KW Lithium Ferro Phosphate Battery Pack.

Upholding the principles of sustainability, the team has innovatively utilized pineapple fibre and upcycled plastic fibre in building the boat's cockpit, highlighting their commitment to environmental stewardship. This level of engineering prowess and dedication to sustainability by both teams underscores Kumaraguru Institutions' commitment to leading the path in technological education and sustainable advancements.
