In Kovilpalayam, Coimbatore, two individuals were arrested for deceiving a manager out of Rs. 2 lakhs by promising him a loan at a low interest rate.
Coimbatore: The police have apprehended two men, Naresh and Yuvaraj, for their involvement in a fraud that cost Ravi Kumar, a manager at a private firm in Kovilpalayam, Rs. 2 lakhs. According to the complaint lodged by Kumar, he was approached over the phone by the duo claiming to represent a finance office in Ganapathy, Coimbatore. They offered loans at reduced interest rates, prompting Kumar to request a loan of Rs. 20 lakhs.
Kumar was asked to pay Rs. 2 lakhs ostensibly as processing fees to expedite his loan approval process. Believing their claims, he transferred the money. However, after receiving the money, the suspects became incommunicable, and the promised loan was never disbursed. Eventually realizing he had been deceived, Kumar filed a complaint at the Race Course Police Station.
The subsequent police investigation revealed that the suspects were hiding in Gandhipuram. Upon arrest, it was discovered that Naresh, 31, hails from Vellore's Arakkonam, and Yuvaraj, 36, from Devanga Puram in Tiruppur district. They were detained on June 19.
