Coimbatore Police Commissioner Inaugurates Pelican Signals at Three Locations

Coimbatore Police Commissioner Balakrishnan inaugurated Pelican traffic signals at three key intersections on June 20 to improve pedestrian safety across the city's heavy traffic zones.

Coimbatore: Following the city's growing needs for better traffic management, Coimbatore Police Commissioner Balakrishnan inaugurated Pelican signals at three crucial intersections. The events took place at Gandhipuram city bus stand, Park Gate, and the junction near 100 Feet Road, aiming to enhance pedestrian crossing safety in areas with high traffic volumes.

These implementations are part of broader efforts by the Coimbatore City Police to improve road safety and regulate traffic flow effectively. The newly installed Pelican signals are strategically located at areas that witness significant pedestrian movement, ensuring that residents can cross roads safely and conveniently.

The Pelican signals, especially designed to benefit pedestrians, have been set up at Sungam junction near Varadaraja Mill, near the PSG College of Technology, and at the Ganapathy bus stop no. 3, Thudiyalur and near the Brookfields Mall. These are in addition to the previously mentioned areas, highlighting the police's commitment to enhancing urban mobility and safety.

Furthermore, additional Pelican signals have been activated at three spots near Krishnammal Women's College on Avinashi Road, near CIT and at the Sugarcane Market intersection, as part of the city's infrastructure upgrade to facilitate safer and more efficient pedestrian movement.
