A drug abuse awareness rally was organized in Udumalai, Tirupur by the Dharapuram Prohibition Enforcement and Udumalai Subdivision Police. The event aimed to educate students and the public about the dangers of drug abuse.
Coimbatore: Community health and safety took to the streets in Udumalai today, as the Dharapuram Prohibition Enforcement and Udumalai Subdivision Police jointly hosted an awareness rally aimed at combating drug abuse. Deputy Superintendent of Police J. Sukumaran led the rally, underlining a crucial initiative towards nurturing a society resilient against the destructiveness of narcotics.
During the event, DSP Sukumaran engaged with students and community members, stressing the importance of avoiding drug usage to foster a healthier environment. He discussed the adverse effects on physical health, social disorder, and the risk of mortality associated with substance abuse.

The procession kicked off at the Udumalai Railway Station and made its way through Rajendra Road, with students and volunteers brand defaulting banners indicating the harrowing impacts of drugs. Throughout the rally, participants worked to instill a sense of duty among the populace towards eliminating drug misuse.

Concluding at the Central Bus Station, the awareness campaign effectively reached both the public and students. The event saw the presence of key officials including Sub-Inspector Krishnakumar and Special Sub-Inspectors Ibrahim and Duraimani, Head Constable Govindan, Food Safety Officer Vijayakumar, and Lab Technician Thavasumani, all of whom played a pivotal role in raising awareness.
