400 kg of ration rice seized at Velanthavalam check post.

The flying squad officials today seized 400 kg of ration rice meant to be distributed through the PDS. Reacting to a tip-off, the team of officials were stationed at the Vedhanthavalam Check post (Coimbatore -Kerala border) and checked every vehicle that passed through the check post.


On seeing this, two people who were en route to Kerala in their two wheelers pushed the sacks of rice from their vehicles and escaped from the site. The officials seized the bags and confiscated 400 kg of rice left by the offenders. 

Th seized rice was handed over to the PDS distribution cell at the Collectorate. The officials have planned to conduct regular inspections to control rice smuggling from Coimbatore to Kerala. 

The KG Chavadi Police have registered a case against the incident and in search of the escaped offenders.
