Coimbatore Corporation resolves to convert 20.72 acres of open jail land in Singanallur for an international cricket stadium under the Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department.

Coimbatore District, South Coimbatore Taluk, Singanallur Village, survey numbers 777 and 778, with areas of 10.47 acres and 10.25 acres respectively, totaling 20.72 acres, are currently classified as "Government Poramboke - Open Jail." The land is proposed to be converted to establish an international cricket stadium under the Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department. Coimbatore Corporation has passed a resolution requesting the conversion.
The request is based on:
1. Coimbatore District Sports and Youth Welfare Office letter No.35/A/2024, dated 07.06.2024.
2. Coimbatore District Revenue Officer's letter 5.5.E2151840/2024/12, dated 06.06.2024.
3. G.O.Ms.No.117 Revenue and Disaster Management dated 18.03.2022.
An A1 notice will be issued on 08.06.2024 for the conversion of the land in Singanallur Village, survey numbers 777 and 778. The Coimbatore Corporation, East Zone, requests immediate approval and expedited processing of this resolution.
The land is strategically located next to the Neelambur bypass, and also 25 minutes away from the Coimbatore international airport. This will aid people from Tirupur, Erode, Karur and also Palakkad Kerala to access the stadium easily through the highways.
