Over a hundred villagers from Kodthankulam, Ponnari, and Kudimangalam besieged the Udumalai Revenue Office, demanding free residential land pattas. The protest escalated during the ongoing settlement conference.
Coimbral: In a sweeping display of public grievance, more than a hundred villagers from Kodthankulam, Ponnari, and Kudimangalam gathered at the Udumalai Revenue Office today, marking the fourth day of the ongoing settlement conference. The villagers demanded immediate issuance of free residential land pattas, escalating their long-standing housing concerns.

The villagers, enduring years without own homes and residing in rented accommodations, have submitted multiple applications to the relevant authorities. However, with no actions taken, they have now approached Revenue Officer Kannan during the ongoing settlement event to press for their demands. "We have been renting for years due to the unavailability of free house site pattas. Even after several petitions, our pleas have been ignored," explained a representative from the group.
The officials were urged to conduct proper assessments and expedite the provision of house site pattas to those genuinely in need. "It is high time our grievances are addressed. We need immediate actions to resolve this," emphasized another villager. The Revenue Office saw a significant turnout, leading to heightened tensions in the area.
