In response to a complaint by the AIADMK, an FIR was lodged against 9 BJP individuals under various charges including attempt to murder.

After exhaustive hearings and testimony from 13 witnesses, the First Additional District Court in Coimbatore delivered the verdict on June 28. Judge Sasirekha ruled in favor of acquitting all accused, including Nandakumar, the BJP responsible for Nilgiris parliamentary constituency, and general secretary Damodaran, citing lack of sufficient evidence.
