A brief respite from heat

The scorching heat of the day was offset by a brief spell of rain that came as a respite to citizens on Sunday evening.

Temperature

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the city saw 3.5mm of rainfall, in barely a five-minute spell, on Sunday.

The temporary drizzle, however, did bring down the mercury considerable across the city. Around 3 p.m., the maximum temperature recorded was 36.2C, which came down to 27C barely three hours later.

The rainfall was concentrated around the Central Business District area. Indiranagar saw just 0.5mm of rainfall, while Kempegowda International Airport received 2.2 mm of rain.

IMD forecasts more rain in the city over the next 48 hours. Monday and Tuesday is expected to see partly cloudy sky with the maximum temperature hovering around 36 C. However, spells of rain or thunderstorms are expected in the evening or night.
