EPS Criticizes Annamalai, Accuses BJP of False Growth Claims in Tamil Nadu

AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami, during a press meet in Coimbatore, strongly criticized BJP State President Annamalai for his comments on AIADMK and accused him of creating an illusion of BJP's growth in Tamil Nadu.

Coimbatore: AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami (EPS) held a press conference in Coimbatore on July 5, where he launched a scathing attack on BJP State President Annamalai for his recent comments about AIADMK.

EPS criticized Annamalai for his remarks on AIADMK's decision to boycott the Vikravandi by-election. He said, "Annamalai has deliberately spoken ill of AIADMK despite us already explaining our reasons for boycotting the election. He claimed that if AIADMK had contested, we would have come third or fourth. He's a highly educated person and a great political genius, apparently."

The AIADMK leader countered Annamalai's claims by pointing out their performance in the recent parliamentary elections. "In Viluppuram, our candidate lost by only about 6,000 votes and secured the second position," EPS stated.

EPS accused Annamalai of creating an illusion of BJP's growth under his leadership. He highlighted that in the recent elections, Annamalai himself received 1 lakh fewer votes than the DMK in Coimbatore. "The BJP alliance's vote share has actually decreased from 18.8% to 18.28%. How can he claim growth?" EPS questioned.

The former Chief Minister also criticized Annamalai for not bringing any central government schemes to Tamil Nadu. "He's just giving daily interviews and talking about other parties. He's frying vadas in his mouth without bringing any central schemes to Tamil Nadu," EPS remarked.

EPS further accused Annamalai of making false promises during his campaign. "He promised 500 assurances in 100 days. People are now waiting to see if he'll fulfill these promises with BJP in power at the center," he added.

Responding to questions about the possible return of former AIADMK members, EPS firmly stated that there are no plans to readmit those who left the party. He also dismissed the possibility of V.K. Sasikala reuniting the party, stating that she is not even a member of AIADMK.

EPS concluded by criticizing the DMK government, accusing them of corruption and mishandling issues like the illicit liquor problem in various districts of Tamil Nadu.
